Greetings, Middle Kingdom,
I hope everyone is enjoying their time in the summer sun and the many great outdoor events. I am sure many of you are well into your preparations for War. It is a wonderful and exhausting event we all look forward to. Please remember to treat others as you want to be treated, and cooler heads often prevail. Also watch out for those who are new to the SCA and Pennsic – it is a wonderful time for them, but can often be overwhelming. Our goal is to have everyone be able to enjoy their SCA time for years to come.
I also have an opening for a new Northern Oaken Seneschal – Baroness Isibel has served North Oaken well, but it is time for her to move on to new adventures. If you are interested, please let her and I know. A brief overview of the position is: disseminating information from the Kingdom Seneschal, quarterly reporting, assisting those in your region as needed, following up on questions, and assisting with investigations on bullying and harassment.
There is also one change to Kingdom Law: as per Society, Chatelain and DEIB are now Great Officers of State. What was changed in Kingdom Law: ARTICLE II – Duties and Requirements of the Great Officers of State 1-II-101 – The Great Officers of State are: Kingdom Seneschal; Dragon Herald; Kingdom Earl Marshal; Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences; Kingdom Chronicler; Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer; Kingdom Officer for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging; and Kingdom Chatelaine.
