Siege Engineer and Marshal training at Pennsic

If you have wanted to enter the wonderful world of Siege, your opportunity to do so quickly and easily will take place at Pennsic War.

Classes Will be held on August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. 1- 4 pm. At the battlefield.

FAQ: Do you need to be a heavy combat fighter for a Siege Authorization?

Answer: Nope. You will need access to the correct armor for the field, but you do not have to be an authorized rattan combat fighter.

Do I need a Chivalry sponsor? Answer: No. It’s no longer required.

What about a Marshal? Answer: Marshal experience is helpful, but we can make you an MIT if you have no experience.
What will I learn?

You’ll learn how to inspect and operate siege engines. You will learn how to inspect ammunition. You will learn about the many different types of engines that are used. You will learn how to test and certify engines for safe combat, specific rules of siege combat, and then take a brief knowledge test at the end.

How long will it take? Attend ONE of the sessions. Be on time please.

Are there other time slots? Sorry, there are not. To certify engines we have only so much time scheduled at the battlefield, so you must attend one of the available slots.

When will the authorization start? In the case of engineers, immediately. In the case of Marshals, it will depend on your experience level. If you have no experience, it will be possible to get and complete an MIT warrant during Pennsic.

The advantages of doing this at Pennsic are multiple. You’ll see a variety of engines, learn from some of the most experienced Siege Marshals in the SCA, and quickly become proficient.
