The Pale – September Letter from the Earl Marshal (Incoming)

Greetings,

As your incoming Earl Marshal, I would like to introduce myself to those who might not know me. I have been in the Society for 30 years, where I have spent most of that time focusing on archery and thrown weapons. Recently I’ve added rattan fighting, siege, and combat archery. I’ve even gotten on a horse! As you see, I dabble in a lot of different areas. The more you experience, the better resource you become.

Now the important official stuff. Firstly, I hope everyone had a fun and safe Pennsic; where friendships were forged and memories made. That being said, there is an overall need for more marshals to volunteer to help.

Whether it be taking a day off and helping on the battlefield or a shift or two during some down time at the archery or thrown weapons range we need your help. We love having fun doing all the martial activities, but we have to make sure we can do them safely.

Secondly, I want to give a huge thank you to his Grace Cellach for his hard work and service to the marshalling community and the Kingdom. His dedication has helped make everything safer and more user friendly (because we all love doing our reports now, right?..). I am honored to continue on in his footsteps, and look forward to serving as best as I can.

Play nice, stay safe,

HE Robert Thorne, OP
Earl Marshal of the Middle Kingdom (Incoming)
