The Pale – September Letter from the Historian

Happy Autumn, everyone,

First, I would like to thank everyone who took time to speak with me at Pennsic about the First Vigil, the creation of Red Company, and the creation of the Shire of Rivenvale. Specifically, thank you to Duke Laurelen Darksbane, Duke Talymar gan y Llwynn, Count William of Fairhaven, THL Rickard de Als, THL Genevieve de Saint-Malo, Baroness Aurelia Rosetti, and Master Dirk Edward of Frisia.

By the time you read this, several new articles should already be published, namely the 55th anniversary of the first Middle Kingdom Coronation, the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Award of the Sapphire, and 10th anniversary of the saving/repair to the Drachenstein crowns.

Please visit https://history.midrealm.org/ to read those articles and more.

The Barony of Flaming Gryphon’s 45th anniversary is in October and I will be traveling to Harvest Days in order to speak with some good gentles on its formation and evolution over these last 4 1/2 decades.

My ongoing project behind the scenes is to catalog everything currently in the Kingdom Archive. This work is slower than one might expect because I am simultaneously going through each issue of The Pale and extracting officer lists and recording who held offices and when. It is true that MiddleWiki does this for Great Officers, for the most part, but there are many, many people who have served this Kingdom in other capacities. Therefore, I am recording every deputy mentioned in every issue of The Pale, including regional officers and those whose territories of service now lie in other Kingdoms. The spreadsheet I’ve created to track all of this information currently has 165 columns. Hopefully, this will give us a much more accurate picture of who has served this Kingdom and when.

In joyful service,

Forester Cadfan of the Autumn Wood
Middle Kingdom Historian
