Coming shortly, you will see a new layout for the activity report form in the event packet. There’s going to be a new box for the Minister of the List to initial after checking a participant’s/marshal’s card. You read that correctly – even marshals wanting to help need to show their cards. We are having a lot of paperwork being incorrectly filled out lately and we’re trying to remedy some of the confusion. The only thing the marshal should be signing off on is AFTER they have completed the inspection of the participant, whichever discipline that pertains to. Everything else should be filled out by the MoL- simply because the participant should be showing them their authorization card (which also has your marshal warrants documented) to provide proof they are authorized to participate in that respective activity. Should an issue arise that needs to be addressed, we need to know who to actually talk to. It is an unfortunate reality, but there has to be accountability.
Also a reminder: MiTs signing off on authorizations MUST still have a warranted marshal to sign with them in addition to the second authorizing marshal. (If an MiT is obtaining signatures, there would be a total of 3 signees – the MiT and the 2 authorizing marshals.) If we receive an authorization form with an MiT signature and only 1 other authorizing marshal, that authorization is invalid and WILL need to be redone correctly. We are checking; please don’t make us do any more work than we have to.
