I would like to encourage everyone to consider updating the Populace Directory in the Services Portal of the Midrealm website with your preferred title and pronouns. I have submitted an article in this issue of The Pale which goes into more detail on how to do this, so I won’t repeat that here. What I do want to reiterate is why I feel this is important.
One of the things I feel very strongly about is that the experience of receiving an award from the Crown should be a positive one. I would like to be able to make it just that little bit more special by using the title appropriate for your persona, if that’s what you prefer. But even more importantly, I do not want that moment spoiled by you being announced to the audience by an inappropriate title. I do not want the amazing artwork of your scroll to be marred by the wrong pronouns. Heralds and scribes having access to this information without having to try to covertly find it out from those who know you will make it much easier.
Please understand that this is not required. We do not want to invade anyone’s privacy. But the more common it becomes for people to provide this information, more comfortable others might be sharing it. And that will make all of our experience that much better.
